Rainbow Guides
The Rainbow Guides are the 5-7 year old section of Girlguiding UK. We have between 16 and 20 girls in the unit and meet on a Thursday evening, 6pm – 7.15pm. There are four Guiders and two young leaders who give up their time voluntarily to provide a wide range of activities which are both fun and educational and follow the guidelines set out by the Guide Association to ensure the girls are safe and well looked after.
Our programme is varied. We can be creating something wonderful with paint and glue, singing songs around a campfire, putting on a concert for the elderly, climbing and abseiling down walls, working on badges or the girls’ favourite part of the Rainbow Roundabout, tasting food from around the world, all culminating in our annual sleepover. We are still wondering why it is called a sleepover because some of the girls don’t do much sleeping! There is pretty much everything to suit all the girls tastes.
